The almighty Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is out there on the market right now, showcasing the tech and personality of a top-end gadget. While there’s many things the Galaxy S8 can do with just a swipe, connecting it to a regular Smart TV may prove to oddly difficult. However, here’s a quick and easy guide to set up Screen Mirroring on your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus and stream photos and videos directly to your Smart TV.
Screen sharing between a PC and mobile device
In order to be able to share the screen of your smartphone to your computer, you need to download and install SideSync both on your computer and your mobile device. The app is freely available on Google Play.
As soon as the installation is complete, just connected your smartphone and your PC via a regular USB cable or connect both of them to the same WiFi network. Generally, WiFi connection is recommended for video streaming while filesharing works decent with data cables.
Screen mirroring between a Samsung Galaxy S8 to a Samsung SmartTv
Galaxy smartphones are natively compatible with all Samsung SmartTV products so there’s no need for a third-party app to initiate screen mirroring. Instead, try the following:
- Get your SmartTV remote and press “Input”
- Choose “Screen Mirroring” from the menu that pops-up on the screen
- Unlock your Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus and select Screen Mirroring from the quick settings menu
- Finally, select Samsung Smart Tv. You’re done.
Mirroring your Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus screen to any TV
If you don’t own a SmartTV, you are going to need an AllShare Cast Hub to successfully make the connection between your smartphone and your TV. Once you’ve acquired one, turn your TV and AllShare Cast on. Next, connect the two devices via an HDMI cable. If the connection is successful, a blue light will show up on the AllShare Cast Hub.
Access the quick settings menu on your Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus and go to screen mirroring and turn it on. Shortly afterwards you should see a list of devices that are near your phone. Select the “AllShare Cast” from the list then insert the PIN displayed on your TV.
